Hello,
I'm moving to Istanbul in January and looking for a cheap hotel to stay in for a few weeks until I find an apartment. Does anyone know of such places near Besiktas neighborhood? All the cheaper places seem to be in Sultanahmet. I could also stay in Sultanahmet and commute to Besiktas, but i'm not sure how easy that would be... does anyone have a good idea of how long it would take on public transport to get between Sultanahmet and Besiktas?
Thank you! |

The tram that used to terminate at Eminonu now goes on to Kabatas - or farther. If you are within walking distance of the tram it is easy.

I need some extra money to spend on a documentary about Istanbul, so perhaps you can share my apartment from which it is easy to get to Besiktas. How about $20 a day?

Thank you for the responses - and the offer! I think i'm going to stay at a dirt cheap place near the tram.

Are you moving here to teach ESL? If you are, your school may have some places for you to stay. I know that ET, British Side and EF all have lojmans (not saying what kind of a shape they're in, tho). Check with your school. They may have a three month limit on how long you can stay in their lojmans, but it may be worth it in the short term while you get to know the city.
