I see a lot of ads posted for summer camp work in Korea. Are there any summer camps in Latin America that'll offer decent short-term work?

It's much more popular in Korea, but you will see the odd summer job here and there for Latin America. They probably won't be advertising just yet...well, for Central America and Mexico anyway. South American summer is coming up soon, but it runs through Christmas.

Thanks, Guy. One more question though: I seem to remember seeing information on this site regarding a volunteer opportunity in la Isla Mujeres - offering free room and board in exchange for work. Only problem is now I can't find it. Do you know of any other similar opportunities like this in the region - ones that might accept a qualified teacher for 4-6 weeks or so?

Haven't seen any that pay. Usually you'll get free room and board, but here unlike Asia, the kids go on vacation rather than study.

I don't know of the Isla Mujeres opportunity....sorry. I haven't seen anything advertised yet, but keep looking. Ads should be up before Christmas.

Officially, they say the season runs from June 1st to November 30th, but every year is different. 2005 saw hurricanes on into January, but then 2006 saw no storms make landfall at all. It's always hit and miss out there.

This past summer (Northern hemisphere) I saw an ad on TEFL.com for a summer school in Colombia, the pay was good, but they only interviewed in London. They also offered a flight, but only from London.
