I work for the Osaka region ECC, and they are having meetings with all teaching staff starting sunday to address "some current issues at ECC and in the industry as a whole". Looks like ECC wants to adress NOVA's downfall with staff.

I haven't heard of any problems at ECC, so I'm guessing this is to tell staff not to leave Japan, ECC and NOVA are separate entities.... Then again, who knows? The goverment is watching NOVA closely, so maybe they are also watching ECC too... Could be some wrongdoings will come to light?

Anyone know anything about the meeting? They state that it:

"will address a range of important issues concerning ECC and its future. Most important, it is intended to bring all instructors together ahead of a challenging and transitional phase for the company."

Not very positive sounding, is it?

Ignoring the whiners, I think ECC is a fair company to work at. I enjoyed my time there ad hope they continue to do well in the market. I also have several close friends working for them.

Someone please post the meeting info. I'm curious as to what they are going to say.

Yeah, I wasn't knocking ECC. I've worked there for over a year (still do) and don't mind it at all. I haven't had any problems. I'm not saying it is a perfect company (I've heard of some bad staff at other schools), but I've had no bad experiences. Everyone has been nice, the students have been good, my schedule is great...

I'm just mildly worried about the things that go on behind the scenes, because there's no way for me to know if ECC is doing everything properly. They could be telling students lies just like NOVA was, and I'd have no way of knowing (99% of ECC teachers are in the dark about how the company is run, we just teach and let the J-staff do their thing).

What was the meeting about?

Are they planning any big changes?

I called the office last night and they said the meeting was partly intended to reassure people about ECC's stability in relation to Nova. So I think they actually want to put people at ease a bit. I assumed "period of transition" refered to the company going public as they mentioned at the April meeting....
