I'm an American male 29 years of age and a rookie without any formal English teaching experience. I recently completed my TEFL certification and am considering Costa Rica as a possible teaching location. I wanted to throw out a line to anyone that has lived and taught in CR just to hear about their experiences, both good and bad. Thanks!

Great place to teach, lots of jobs, do not expect to save any money. You may even have to go into savings...If you want to make money go to Korea, etc,,, |

When I went to Peru, I expected little, and was so thrilled with what I saw.
When I came to San Jose, I expected it to be more developed than Peru , and have found very little charm to the city. It is much more violent than I had expected.
That being said, there are various gorgeous regions of Costa Rica.
Costa Rican's are lovely and friendly--not when they drive generally--but they've been truly warm and inviting. |

I don't like the country that much - I don't find it very exciting - but the people are great and getting a job is very easy.
