Hello all, I'm planning on moving to CR in Dec/Jan and am having a dilemma. Is it safe to bring a laptop? I would love to have access to all of my pics/files and internet where accessible. I realize that this has been posted before, but it didn't seem to get a lot of response.
Also, is it realistic to obtain a job in mid January or February?
Thanks

When I went home in June I brought my laptop with me because I was moving into a house with internet access. After living in the house for 2 weeks, our house was broken into and my computer and my roommate's computer were stolen, along with the 3 TVs that came with the house. Even though we had both gates/doors locked, the thieves were able to break the locks off. It turned out that although our landlords said we had 24-hour security, they weren't paying the guy who was supposed to be watching the place. Now the locks are fixed and improved, and we have two new ones, so that it takes 5 keys to get into the house.
It seems that a laptop should be safe inside your house, but you just never know. If you decide to bring it, you should make SURE about security and the locks. |

I brought mine and I've never had a problem with it. I also have 10+ friends with laptops living around the city and they never had a problem either. |
