I am looking for ideas for appropriate (i.e. not too childish, but as little smut and/or gratuitous violence as possible) DVDs to use for my classes. The level of English, accents used, etc. are also important. Which have you had good experiences using?

FGT is correct about Mr Bean. It can be used in many ways. In the next month or so we will building a site for newbies and ideas to use in the classroom. It isn't yet up but you will be be able to find it here

Harry the hobbit used to like using The Snowman which is a beautiful video and has an ELT workbook with it.Harry feels that Mr. Bean is too much of an ELT cop out and too childish for anyone over 14.

Harry the hobbit is agast that such a beautiful animated tale that transcends ages and genres should be referred to as a cartoon.Harry the hobbit is upset that such an uplifting tale that Harry the hobbit has used with learners who have on occasion cried at the end should be so calously compared to Mr. Bean.Harry the hobbit being a Christian hobbit marooned in a Godless world feels that The Snowman has alot to teach us in the run up to the festive season.

I once used a dreadful Richard Gere version of a King Arthur flick (students' choice). Silly films like that are good for conversation starters because it's easy for students to explain what's going on or to identify characters' motivations. We watched it over 3 or 4 lessons with lots of pausing to chat.
