I've been offered what seems like an excellent package with Abu Dhabi University - I was wondering if anyone had any information on them. Thanks! |

Was it you that posted on TT?
Note that I bumped another thread up for you... there are more comments mixed around, but I can assure you that none of them have been terribly positive.
We can't know if this is an 'excellent package' or not unless you tell us what it is and what your credentials are.
This 'university' has arguably the worst reputation in the Emirates and reached the point where they were offering 3, 6, 9 and 12 mo. contracts because of the problem of keeping teachers.
If you have an MA and experience, this should probably be the last place that you would consider in the Gulf. If you are new to the field and desperate for that first job, perhaps a short-term contract may be an option to get your foot in the door.

As I understand things, ADU is under new management. Said persons seem aware of ADU's history and reputation, and are keen to remedy the situation.
I'm sure this has been said before -- and I'm really not certain what sets the present new management apart from the previous new management. I'm happy, though - to wish them well, and to hope for the best. After all, the UAE does need more universities. |

Yes, I think they have been through 2 or 3 "new" managements. Personally, I would want to give them a year or two to see if they succeed before I joined.
... speaking from experience... (though not with this particular place)

I was offered a job with them at TesolArabia before I came to Qatar- they were quite convincing about their university- all positive reviews etc...luckily I bumped into one of their teachers later at the conference who told me subdsequently to avoid them like the plague! I also did some searches on Daves and the reviews were no better....as VS said, it would be wise to wait a year or two and see how they are under this 'new management'..... |
