Ahh, finally, the well yields water...
Does anyone know anything about New Progress Education Training Center in Shanghai? It also goes by Shane. I have found a few postings about Shane being bad, but it seems to be a chain, so I was wondering if anyone knew of this particular branch. They offered me 150 an hour part time, no housing though.
Its out near the airport I think... at least I think that was where I was. I took the bus, so the only thing I was sure of was that there were lots of apartment complexes, Chinese people, and roasted corn vendors nearby. I hope that narrows the location down. |

Which airport? If it's Pudong, you're a long way from anywhere.
Can the school give you a visa is your major consideration. Otherwise, you'll fall into the dangerous " black economy', and run all kinds of risks. If the answer is "yes", proceed with caution. How many hours? Are they blocked together so you're not travelling half way to Nagoya three times a week for 6 hours work. 150 an hour in itself is reasonable. 20 hours a week will see you housed, fed, and pecunious enough to savor what the city can offer. How and when do they pay?
As a chain Shane has its critics. I'm not aware of anyone who works there. Complaints usually get aired on the Job Information Journal, but you've probably looked there. If it doesn't work out there's heaps of others. |

Minhang, it's Hongqiao, not Pudong. JG seems covered for visa for at least the next few months but may hit trouble after that.
This is a massively nice and able guy. Anyone know any good short-term (~6 months) gigs in Shanghai?
I've had one report on Shane in the Shanghai/Suzhou area, apparently managed by the same folks. The report was glowing but I don't really know how reliable it is...
