Do these exist? If so, where? |

Yes! The one I go to is in Taipei, near Zhongshan MRT station on the red line. It is indeed $50 per hour. |

yeah, there's one by my work in San min/Nei Hu that's 20NT for 2 hours. It's a senior citizen centre gym, with all of the equipment being old and there's no showers or spa.... but all of it works fine and dandy. And the cost.
It's in the same building as the San Min Public library too. It's a pink building, located at the corner of San Min and Min Sheng.
Cheers,

I assume these two gyms you guys mentioned (near Zhongshan MRT station and in Neihu) are open to the public, and anyone can work out there, right?
So you just pay NT$50 per hour each time you enter and want to work out, right?
Also, do they require you to bring a separate pair of shoes for working out or can you just arrive wearing sneakers and work out?
Thanks! |

That's what I pay per visit at the local University gym.
Stay as long as I want too. |

That's a fantastic deal!
But you live in Taoyuan, right?
I've recently got myself a book that focuses on exercises using only your own body weight, and it's all stuff you can do at home, and I've been getting fantastic results from it, much better than when I used to go to a gym.
Sounds far-fetched but it's true!
Anyway, that's a different story...LOL.
Is Taiwan like Japan, where few people actually work out at a gym, I mean, you see very few "juice monkeys" over there, few guys who are totally huge and ripped. |

There's a few pretty large guys at the Uni gym but they're not ripped or even really THAT big compared to the West...just in good shape I guess.
Can't speak for commercial gym patrons though. |
