I will be coming to teach in Guadalajara in January. I can fly out of either Victoria or Vancouver (BC, Canada). If my flight has a stopover at a US airport, it ups the cost of my travel health insurance by a few hundred dollars. Do you know of any airlines that fly direct from Vic/Van to either Guadalajara or Puerto Vallarta? |

Japan Airlines and Alaska Airlines, to Puerto Vallarta during the tourist season. I'd tell you to skip down to Seattle to save a few dollars - especially with the loonie higher than the greenback, but if it screws up your insurance, forget it.

You'll have greater choice and more options if you fly direct Vancouver to Mexico City and then take a short domestic flight to Guadalajara. Any reason why not? |

Paying for flights is so confusing:
1. I have to pay for my health insurance, so stopovers in the USA are bad.
2. My employer pays half of my return airfare to GDL or PV, but not MC. My employer will also pay for the transfer to GDL if I fly into PV.
I could talk to them about flying to MC to save money, I suppose, but this system has been in place for years... |
