Hi Everybody,

I am quitting Poland and have too much luggage for the plane: I have a suitcase of clothes, two boxes of bellongings and a laptop.

So I think I might have to take the coach, problem is I dont want 36 hours travel and would prefer to fly myself and put the boxes on the coach. I dont know if this allowed. Does anybody have information about this.

The other option is to DHL it. Any information about this. Is it cheap, I worry about being ripped off.

Because I need to get to Hull. It might be worth my while to get the boat from Hamburg.

I am not sure what is the best way to do this. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Also I have a telephone bill, a large one 1,800zl (phone a Mexican mobile isnt cheap) I need to sell my flat b4 I pay it, but they say there is 'Windycacja' and I cant sell it, does anybody know the legal issues surrounding it. I thought the tellephone bill was personal ie different from the czyncz, which is paid up.

Any help would be apreciated.

Thanks

If you're in Warsaw, I might be able to help you out with some of that. Im driving back to England at Christmas so I could take some stuff (if you can pick it up from Kent.) If not, use Siodemka - they're my preferred Polish courier.

As for the flat - no idea, but again, if it's in Warsaw, I might be interested Wink

Where are you based?

I'm in Zielona Gora, been here six months and am still driving my UK registered car. The tax, MOT and insurance all run out in January and as I'm getting a new car I've been planning to take the old one back to the UK in November to sell. According to Parkers it is worth 2915 for a private sale or 3380 if bought from a dealer. Due to the aggravation and cost of taking it back to the UK I'm trying to sell it here for 12,500 zl but no-one is interested in a RHD. You might even make a few quid on it when you get back.

Here's a link to the valuation.

Parker is a little bit inflated, in my experience - a dealer will list a Merc like that for 3500, giving them room to bargain so the trade-in price quoted is probably more likely what you'll get for it.

Still, you can cruise from Poland to England in 20 hours (I do it once every six months) so it's not THAT much hassle taking a car back to Blighty. Stick it on fleabay, get a deposit paid on it and deliver it to the buyer over a weekend. Poles are more than dishonourable when it comes to buying and selling vehicles - you're much better off taking it back home.

I'd put this in a private message but the mods seem to have disabled it, so sorry it's a bit off-topic.

It's not allowed (security and smuggling issues).

Why not just get a boat from Gdynia?

It is personal but it is attached to the telephone number (but not to the property). A decent estate agent should be able to sort it out for you.

If you want you can send your stuff back with poczta polska. They're cheaper than DHL and from my experience I've never lost a parcel in the post with them, I think they're even more reliable than Royal Mail!!!

I ebayed a lot of stuff and would heavily disagree with the above statement. Aside from the fact that the package will be handled by RoyalMail once it reaches the UK, ALL of the stuff I've sent tracked has been delayed, and always on the Polish side of things - sometimes I've gone back to the post office to see my same "outbound urgent" package sitting on their floor a week later, covered in kickmarks, creases and coffee spills.

Thanks for all the help and sorry bout the delay getting back. I have been really ill. All the advice is really cool.

The flat is City Centre and is 52m2. The agent wants it in for 500k. If you are still interested can arrange a viewing.

But from my experience I've sent parcels through the post and they've arrived on time for the service I was paying. Sure they looked a bit battered and bruised but I don't think it matters, unless you intend to post home your best crockery!
