I'm fed up of haggling on the internet looking for jobs in Indonesia. I've been looking for months & had no luck -- mostly because I'm picky but also because some schools just don't get back to you...Or are very shady.

I'm going to head over & job-hunt in the country...But I just need to know when I should go. When does a new semester begin?
Confused

Language schools recruit all year. If you mean regular schools then you have missed the boat this year as the teaching year began last July, or August for the big international schools.

Having said that, even at the best schools you get the occasional teacher dropping out after semester 1 so there are a few vacancies to start in January.

Be a bit careful, though, as there are a few schools with a very high staff turnover (quite deservedly so!) so do your research carefully.

I agree with Malu, it depends on the type of institution, International schools and National Plus schools for example, don't have to follow the same Academic Year as the National schools, and universities are a different kettle of fish again depending on the length of the majors involved.
I would be careful coming here "Cold turkey" because of the tourist visa restrictions. You can waste a lot of money travelling from place to place and not getting it back, as was the case between GCIS and myself.
