Beginning sometime last spring the ROC immigration service began checking persons entering Taiwan for a criminal history in Taiwan. Taiwan is not a member of interpol or any other international law enforcement agency. It has no access to any records in any country or province outside of Taiwan.
This is not viewed as an effort to prohibit foreigners with minor past criminal histories from entering Taiwan. It is an effort by the ROC government to apprehend so many of the wanted organized crime figures who live in Taiwan under assumed identities. For those not familiar with Taiwan's criminal history, organized crime is wide spread.
Unless you have been convicted of a crime in Taiwan or are on the ROC's organized crime watch list you will not have any problems coming or going in that regard. |

Can you post the source of this information? Newspaper report, immigration office requirement list, or something? Thanks. |
