| Im moving to Fukuoka in three weeks jobless and with about 350,000 yen. How will I fair? Any suggestions? Whats the best way to go about finding a place to live? Im afraid of key money.... |

Whatthefunk,
The easiest way finding a place to live will be via a job at an eikaiwa (a la hagwon). Also, they probably won't pay you for a month or more so you need to seriously watch your cash. Get as many eikaiwa contact details before you arrive and hit the pavement. Try canvassing them all now saying you're on your way. I'm assuming you've a degree,are a native English speaker, and are an Aussie, Kiwi, Brit or Canadian. Americans can't get working holiday visas.
Y350,000 will keep you going for a bit but accom is a bitch if you don't have a job and everything will seem expensive after Korea. See if you can find a room somewhere to base yourself from, try pleading here, on gaijinpot.com and all the other J-sites you can find. There are no $20 yogwans here, you'd be lucky to get a capsule.
Lastly, if you're seriously running out of cash, make sure you've enough to get back to Korea, work for a hagwon, and try again in March when the schools are hiring.

| Thanks for the advice. The problem is that I can't find an eikaiwa job in Fukuoka. Ive been looing around for a good couple months and have had no luck. How strick is immigration? I have the misfortune of being an American, so I will be on a strickly vacation visa... |

If immigration asks the purpose of your visit do not mention work in any shape or form.You are on vacation only.
Good luck on your job search.Do you have a degree?As an American you cannot apply for a work visa unless you do. |

| Yes, I have a degree and Ive been teaching in Korea for a year now. Ive been offered jobs in Chiba and Tokyo, but I really want to live in Fukuoka. No luck though.... |

| If you can handle teaching kids Peppy's Kids Club is always hiring but I don't know if they have classes in Fukuoka or not. |
