Big sales are on in the couple of weeks leading up to Chinese New Year, which varies from year to year - sometimes in January, sometimes in February. Soe big discounts may be had on all sorts of goods at this time.
As for Gucci Prada et.al., I guess they have good sales too.
But you can get very reasonably priced Prada, Gucci, Ralph Lauren etc. down at the Ladies' Market in Mongkok |

Big high-end fashion labels like LV never have sales. Versace very occasionally does. Armani also. Armani Xchange has sales on regularly - especially leading up to Xmas and then CNY.
Prices here are generally among the cheapest in the world. |

yeah, i'm not interested in the super high end luxury goods like gucci and versace and the like. more into the low end designer stuff (diesel, *beep*, club monaco, armani X, etc.). they have sales during the December too? i'm heading down to thailand, but thinkin about making a quick 2 day layover in HK to do some shopping. |

You'll find quite a lot of the designer stuff - both high end and low end - in Bangkok and I think the prices would be cheaper there than HK.
Try Paragon Centre, Gaysorn Plaza, Emporium department store and Central department store (the one at Chitlom). |

A lot, even most, of the Western fashion brands are manufactured in China, organised by HK garment companies. So there are a lot of very cheap genuine factory seconds and overruns to be found. Last years' as well as next years'.
I'm not into it personally, but Granville Road in Tsim Sha Tsui is one place to look; also there are factory outlets in Hung Hom.
There is a popular guidebook to this by a local expat, can't recall the title but if you ask in a touristy bookshop here they should have it.
The info on http://www.smarttravelasia.com/hkshop.htm looks reasonably up to date. |
