Can anybody tell me anything about these outfits? I know what I've found on their websites. How about working for them? And I'd like to know a bit more about Jubail and Dhahran. I've heard here that Jubail is pretty nice. Thanks as usual for your comments.

There are lots of threads about these places - especially Jubail. I'd suggest that you try doing a search and then come with more specific questions if you still have them.

I've been offered a job in Dhahran for Saudi Aramco and would like to know from anyone who knows, has experience with, the company. I'm avoiding the private language schools as noted in threads here. How are the mega-companies to work for ? I've already read about the Jubail area but would like to know specifically what Jubail University College is like, if you don't mind. Any crazy people there?Very Happy Love and kisses

I thought Aramco stopped direct hires some years back. If you're working for a recruiter much depends on which recruiter.

I have never heard of Gulf Talent.

Jatco, Al Hoty, Al Falak are some of the main contractors.

Is this for the ITC ?

Conditions vary considerably according to the contract you are on.

Some don't give multi exit reentry visas and some have very poor accommodation.

Are they giving you a percentage contract meaning that you pay for everything out of salary or are u on a fixed rate contract?

Many things to consider when you are signing up with these outfits as once you sign up you will most likely be stuck with them with no chance of working for someone better in Saudi.

Yes, of course... it is the Gulf. Laughing It is pure luck if they are 'bad' crazy or 'good' crazy... or whether they are running the asylum.

We rarely have Aramco employees posting here. But... that is good advice on recruiters. Be very careful.

I understood that ARAMCO now have no direct hires in teaching. Everything is done through subcontractors. As a non-ARAMCON working for ARAMCO you are a second class employee.

Thanks for your reply. As a second class citizen with Aramco what life-giving resources will I be missing out on? My priorities are: reasonably high salary, (private) housing, flights to and from, summer break, local holidays of course, health care and one year school fees for my twin sons. I'm wondering just how second class can I get working for Aramco. If I'm offered these things I will have fulfilled my basic requirements. As I've said before my goal is to strengthen my weak financial position before I'm too old and infirm to lift a finger. After that if I can work around the really annoying to unbearable conditions I will attempt to suck it up and manage for a full year to meet my contract. Perhaps by that time my resume will reflect that I'm capable of enduring the unique conditions. If need be I would move on to another contract, God willing. Beggars can't be choosers.

I would think you would miss out on the school fees, be given crappy health care, and put in shared accommodation; the contractor is obliged to pay a certain salary so he tries to increase his profit by paring the costs of his other obligations.

The short answer however is we don't know. We are not privy to your contractual private arrangements.

As Stephen says the school fees will almost certainly NOT be paid by a subcontractor. They might well refuse accompanied status. Might be better to look to UAE or Oman.

Ok. I'm not privy as well as I'm waiting to see what they offer me. I'm applying elsewhere all the time, mostly UAE, and Qatar. I know the school fees is a huge ask but I am a solo parent and my responsibilities are my responsibilities. Where I go, they go, for one more year until they come back to NZ and start Uni. Then they can begin on their own treadmill of life and applying for jobs. Just like me. I can handle crappy health care but not shared accommodation. I'm not a student. I need to make some money over the next 5 years and I'm willing to sacrifice some things but not others. It's is either that or sell my home here to survive.

Thanks to Scot for your PM and to Van Norden, bless you. Also to Mouse5 for your detailed info. I really appreciate it and have acted on all of your suggestions. I am a baby poster so can't PM anyone yet, otherwise I would have sent you a personal reply. Van Norden could you elucidate on your latest Pm to me as I can't seem to find it on my own. Thanks

Mouse5 -that email address you sent me just keeps rebounding so I think it's probably lost in translation. Could you give it to me again, please? Thanks again
