Before anyone asks, I have searched but dont seem to be able to find an answer.... altho I have found some travel agents' details so have mailed them...but does anyone know roughly the cheapest country to fly to from Japan in South East Asia? and what airlines?
Am planning on travelling at the end of my contract, around Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand etc and just trying to find the cheapest flight out. Just curious if anyone had any tips or advice. Will be flying in Feb or March...

Thanks.

Cheapest flights to SE Asia is probably to Bangkok, might be via Korea or China. Bali may not be bad either, at least it was cheap when I went there.

There's an Osaka to Shanghai ferry. I think its once a week, and takes about 40 hours. I have a friend who took it a year or so ago and it cost him about 20,000 yen one way. I think its also listed in the Lonely Planet if you have one.

Fantastic thank you - i just did some research on the ferry online, and it is still 20,000yen... then flights from Shanghai to Bangkok are incredibly cheaper than any flights out of Japan.
Thanks so much... wouldn't have thought of that option.

Before you get too excited remember to add in the time and cost needed for getting a visa for China.
