Hello Everyone,

I am new to the Board and would like to have some feedback from those of you with on the ground experience as to the viability of my plan.

My wife and I are looking to retire to Mexico in the near future. I will be 55 and my wife 45. We are bother certified teachers in BC Canada. I hold an Msc. in Information Systems, a BA in Sociology/Anthropology, and a BA in history as well as my teacher education program. My wife holds a BA in English as well as her teacher education program. I have over 20 years of experience teaching grades 10-12 (Computer Science, Business, English etc.). I also have over 10 years teaching experience as a sessional instructor at the Community College level (computer applications).

I have taught some ESL but I have no credential in that area.

My pension will allow us to meet the requirements for an FM and we are thinking of teaching, more to integrate into the community than as a primary source of income, though a few extra pesos can always come in handy.

What are the potential opportunities if any ?

Thanks in advance.

John

There are potential opportunities almost everywhere in Mexico for experienced teachers. Pick the place you would like to live and then apply for the jobs suitable to your education and experience. Get your degrees legalized before leaving Canada. This is a necessary step to obtain work permits. While you are at it, do the same with your Marriage certificate since Immigration may well ask for that when approving your joint FM3 application.
