I would like to ask any guitar players out there if a fair quality guitar can be purchased reasonably in HCMC. I have a low end Washburn that I am considering bringing (becuase it plays well but was not very expensive), but I can't help but wonder if I might be saving my self some money and some grief buy just buying an instrument whem I get there.

Yeah. I wasn't planning on buying something and taking it back with me. If I buy something here, it will stay here when I go back home. I am just trying to determine the cost of bringing one over vs. buying one in HCMC.

I tried to search for the other thread with the address, but damn if it isn't buried deep in this forum and doesn't come up. I posted the area once before a while back just can't remember the street name right now.

There is a street off of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai in HCMC that has most of the guitar builders on it. If you ask someone for the address of Hanoi Bakery and head down that way you will spot them all. Can get a decent acoustic built for around a million dong (60$) without electronics. I am planning on going down and having an electric built when I get back from vacation.

If no one has the street address, here is what you do.

Get on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai and head toward where districts 1, 3, 5, and 10 meet. Once you see Outerspace and Studylink schools on the left, you are going to take the next right. It's in D. 3. I would recommend the 2nd shop on the left once you make the turn, but there are plenty to shop around. If you don't speak the language, I would try to have a Viet go with you to keep the price from skyrocketing. Happy Hunting.

Thanks for the tip Lizard. I'll give that a whirl once I get there.
