Hi,
I'm staying in Shizuoka, and I'm scheduled to close on a house in the US in about a week. To make things go smoother, the lender suggested that I give limited Power of Attorney (POA) to my business partner.

The escrow officer wrote "Please note the POA must be notarized as well, either at the US Embassy or with an local notary together with an Apostille will work."

As far as I can tell, the closest embassy is in Nagoya. I was hoping to take care of this in Shizuoka, but don't know how to find a notary and apostille. Any help with this will be much appreciated.

The embassy is always in the capital city, so Nagoya would have a consulate- they don't always have the same legal powers as embassies so don't head down there without checking if that's what you end up doing.
