Had enough of your school? Locked in by penalty clauses if you want to leave prematurely?

Looks like you're stuck?

Nope. Have a little cash behind you and go sick for five weeks, worked for someone I met working for an EF in Jakarta and she was exited, no payments to the school and off on a plane (she had the return portion of the ticket in hand and brought forward the date of return).

School cut their losses, teacher happy, system bucked.

Sick notes must be really easy to come by from the docs in Indonesia...

Any reader of this forum will gather that I have no sympathy whatsoever for nasty scheming employers that screw FT's.

At the same time, I don't think that abusing sick leave is a particularly good idea. All this will achieve in the longer term is to make it even more difficult for those who are unfortunate enough to suffer genuine illness or injury.

It's easy enough to do a runner without sicknotes.

I also had a friend who went to Batam, got a letter signed on an EF letterhead by himself with the help of Indonesian friends (translation) and bon voyage across the sea by ferry to Singapore. This cost him only 800,000 rp including bribes.

Simple yet effective.
