I've recently heard about the situation with ESL in other countries. I've been reading through the forums, and it does seem like Taiwan or Korea is where I'd like to go. But, I don't know how to rate my qualifications. I've got a BS in CS and the coursework for a MS in CS. I'm under the impression that the only thing they'd care about is the fact that I have a BS. I don't have any certifications. But, I've been tutoring for the past few years. Mostly math, some science. Enough that I've done a few thousand hours of tutoring. Nothing particularly connected with ESL, but I don't know how to determine what kind of salary to look for based on my qualifications.
Someone was telling be that just a BS would give $20K/year easily. Would my tutoring make me more likely to find a job, more likely to get a better salary, both?
Oh, I'm American, white, male. Usually, I wouldn't think of those as qualifications, but it seems like they might be factors here. |
