Things seem to have taken a turn for the worse!
....................................................................................................
Foreign teachers will need to be 100% aware of their rights and obligations as schools and universities will be able to dismiss teachers for breach of contract and unless you are aware of your entitlements, schools are no longer be obliged to offer minimum salaries, holiday allowances, salary during vacations or reimburse airfares unless negotiated.

From 2007 all foreign teachers in China are required to be fully conversant with their legal rights and obligations.

Was there ever a minimum salary in China? Wow, seems like the contracts in China are becoming more and more one-sided. This should attract the best and brightest teachers of the west.

I see an improvement in salaries . As I have said many times before I have three things that I am constantly doing here . Teaching English Collecting my money for teaching English and looking for a new job . What I see is a big improvement in salaries . If you deal with recruiters or a foreign non profit organisation 哈哈 then you will get the rip off salary.

The question then remains ... what is the punishment should I not be entirely conversant on some right or obligation ? Forced knowledge and consequences should I not learn and be conversant on a subject seems beyond the scope of Communism ...

It would seem that Western status is dropping to third world status and that working at a government school or University that we are no longer in titled to equal time off to Chinese teachers. Not that we havent been seeing that many government jobs here have been for 10 month contracts so that they can get out of paying for the Summer holidays.

Anyway things are not going to get better that is apparent and with the layoffs that are incurring in the West more will probably be considering a job here.

Anda,

I was disappointed to find the link led only to a decidedly nonauthoritative source; a blatant sales pitch for a book.

Please provide links to some government source when leading with such a hyperbolic assertion. It just seems a scare tactic to sell books.

Kinda funny the same website also sells Chinese "Loss of libido" medicines.

The book being sold seemed little more than a newbies guide. If that's what someone is looking for, a comprehensive one can be found for free at http://www.middlekingdomlife.com/website/newbies_guide.htm and I'm sure you can Google dozens of other places yourself too.

Cheers and beers to those sufferimg from "loss of libido".

Laughing

I highly doubt this is going to happen. I hardly think Mr. Jones when he gets made redundant is going to think "Well I have no job here, so what are my options? I know I will ship my whole life, move to China and teach for $600 a month"

It's not going to happen!!!

If you read it is linked in with a complete set of the SAFEA 2007 Regulations.

Do a search on SAFEA 2007 Regulations.

Then come back and rubbish the post!
