Hello people：
I�m newly arrived to China and I admittedly don�t like it here， at least where I�m situated in Jiangyin。 However， I don�t have much going for me monetarily so I may need to stay longer than I would like， which means working， which in turn means having the Z visa to do so。
Since I cut my teeth in Korea and I strongly prefer to be there compared to here， would I face problems applying for the E2 while in China with an unexpired Z visa in my passport？ |

| Considering South Korea and China are two seperate countries why would you have any problems? I assume you are going to pull a runner, is that correct? In that case you will find it difficult to work in the same province again should you wish to return to China. |

Hi All,
I will be finishing up my 4th consecutive year at the same hagwon in Korea. My contract ends 11/30. I am not ruling out another year but am considering a change. One of the choices is to teach a year or two in China. I am a certified teacher that has taught over 20 years in the US. With my 4 years in Korea, what can I expect for wages at this time of year? |

| Don't expect much more than the recent graduate. Sure some people can earn a decent salary, however the average salary is around 4000 to 5000RMB. If you are concerned about money, stay in Korea. |

Yes, you've assumed correctly. It's my thinking that you say I wouldn't be able to secure a job in the same *province* in China, but what about a seperate province? I don't have the background knowledge about this country to determine this myself and I find it so frustrating to have to start from scratch to become streetsmart about the place. |

That's the only point teachers in Korea need to be clear on before "making the jump" to China.
(I've lived and worked in both.)
The money you can save in China compared to Korea is laughable. A tawdry pittance.
However, the vibe in China is waaaay better.  |

The average salary is 4000-5000 RMB simply because there are too many newbs here willing to work for peanuts. |

| I have to say this: I've never met so many geriatric, freaky, mentally unstable teachers in any one place so far. And, yes, this includes Korea. Actually, most Korean schools don't want the freak of the week types if they can help it. Ask yourself this: Would a normal person really want to whittle away their lives for less than 1000 bucks per month for more than a year or so? In fact, China is a positive alternative to said people. Please, people, don't beat up on little Korea anymore until you've had a good look at the teaching situation in China. |
