Don't know about the others, but I know these 4 all hire teachers from outside Japan.
Not many on your entire list has received favorable reviews from its employees. I begin to wonder how you assembled such a list... |

Glenski,
Thank You for your reply. Actually, I've been browsing through Dave's ESL cafe copying every school that I found on here into my "list." In my list, I also copied ratings and hiring locations. The schools that I have presented here, I was sure as to whether or not they hired overseas, therefore, I decided to create the post.
Don't get me wrong, I know there are many schools out there, but I'm just trying to get an idea of places to maybe apply at aside from the big 4 and Jet (which I didn't get accepted to).
By the way, if I were to send you my resume sometime, would you be able to critique it, or would that be asking too much?
Thank You,
John |

In addition to the schools Glenski mentioned Heart English School also hires from over seas. I was offered a phone interview with them sometime last year. I didn't take them up on it. I think it was because their pay was very low (can't remember exactly). |

All of those companies have high turnover.
The companies with the highest employee turnover must hire overseas because they can't find replacement teachers in Japan because of the company's poor reputation. |

It's a little more complicated than that I'm sure. A company's reputation easily spreads outside of Japan - especially if they are recruiting overseas. Being known as a bad employer in Japan will only, if belatedly, lead to being known as a bad employer overseas. |

Many companies (including my own, which is a fabulous company to work for) simply prefer teachers with no previous experience of teaching in Japan.
It is presumptious of you to think to think that it is to do with a high staff turnover.
Many foreigners at my school have stayed here for over 8 years and we have a VERY low staff turnover.
I might add that we are currently seeking to add to our foreign ranks at the moment (due to expansion) and are only looking overseas. |

That school on your list, whose name rhymes with "Ringo's cool," has a long, notoriously bad, bad, bad reputation.
1. eerie-girl counter-acts;
2. bad were King Condie-shins;
3. Ollie geishans of a byooce.
4. LIP-AUGH!!! (cough, cough, skru'mee)
Look at the BONES! |

Care to publicize the company you're talking about?
Could it be this one? http://www.phoenixassoc.com/ |

X2 about that place that ryhmes with "Ringo's cool". That place has been discussed numerous times on this forum, and there are dozens of teachers with terrible experiences from that school. |

Hi Jon,
I'm looking to teach in Japan for the first time. I have a degree in English and have taught for 1 year in Korea.
I'm very interesting in applying to your company so I'm hoping you'll email me with some contact information.
Regards,
Hien
