Contact the Japan Association for Working Holiday Makers and see what they have in the way of job leads.

You would be best off looking for ski resort work at this time of the year, or perhaps bar work- I'm guessing you're from Australia or New Zealand? If so, just like at home, this is a really dead time of the year for finding other kinds of jobs, hiring won't start for English teaching jobs until some time in January. This year that situation has been made a hundred times worse by Nova's collapse.

You are coming with at least a month's worth of funds, right? Two months' would be better. It would be tough to spend the run-up to Christmas watching your limited funds disappearing while trying to find a job in a saturated market.

Not trying to be a downer, just that the timing is not good.

you can stay in a hostel for cheap...at one hostel in Tokyo I saw that you could stay there for free if you work for them. It was in Asakusa. I think the website is hostelworld.com....

Thanks for you help guys. I've already booked my flight so I'm gonna have to come over and take my chances anyway. I'll have enough cash to keep me going for 2 months......after that i may be running with my tail between my legs to Korea. Let's hope not.

Cheers for the advice!

PS...... Schick, do you have a problem with someone seeking advice from people who may be in the know. I can't figure out why you bothered to send that message. It takes all types i suppose
