My company makes it sound as if I can be denied a personal day off request even if I give them two weeks or more notice. I have six days off left before I leave next year but every time I try to use one my company makes it sound as if there is a good chance it won't be 'approved', and if it isn't approved then I'm out of luck.

Does anyone know what the law says about this?

If you have been a full-time employee, in the first 6 months you work there, you are guaranteed no days off by law. After that, for the next 12 months (6-18 months of service, that is), you are required by law to get 10 paid days off.

Start with Chapter IV, article 39. A nice table is on p. 36 to show you how many additional days off you get per year of service.

How about finding yourself another employer? I'd be handing in my notice if I worked for such an employer.

^ x2. If you are giving them >2 weeks notice before the requested dates, it sounds like you are being reasonable. Unless they have good reasons for denying you the requested days off, I'd seriously consider looking for another job too.

Well, they haven't denied a request... yet. However, every time I put in a request they make it sound like it is a huige deal and that they are doing me a big favor for giving me the day off. Between now and April I have six days off left to me so I can only imagine them giving me hell when I want to take a day off (with notice) because, and for no other reason, because I want to. I have the days so I want to use them before returning to the US next year.
