Is it me or what? This is the only forum that people post on that think they can enter Russia etal and work legally without a visa? I know the visa laws are being enforced now like never before, but come on guys. You want to work in a former Soviet country without proper documents and the FSB is gunning for you - not just western English teachers, but the hordes of illegal immigrants that are streaming into Russia from all the bordering CIS and Asian countries as well -- that means everyone needs a visa and OVIR registration.
Don't think twice, I have had my residence here for some time and enjoy this banter very much! |

Apart from C.I.S. countries nationals almost everyone normally needs a visa to enter Russia and has done for a very long time. One exception was Cypriots when they had a special mutual visa-free agreement for up to 3 months at a time. from 1996 until 2004 when it was abolished due to E.U. membership here.I can vouch for that because I also have a Cyprus passport and was able to use it many times for short business visits.
But the question is not about this,it's the length of stay for business multiple entry visas which used to be for up to one year with a 6 month maximum stay each time but is apparently now only for 3 months maximum stay with a minimum of 3 months out of Russia after that. The questions of work permits for teachers is something else-some firms can issue them while others cannot.Hope this helps. |
