Anyone have info on Language Corps? They offer various TESOL/teacher placement programs in Southeast Asia. |

Don't know very much about their SE Asia programs. I've had some contacts with them here in Ecuador, and know of their operations in other Latin American coutries...
In general, I've been impressed with the professionalism and seriousness of their staff.
I have trained some of their participants (we run a TESOL course, and are their local provider) have found them serious and good to work with. (Well, maybe not ALL- but we've had dozens. The vast majority have been terrific people.)
I would mention, though- I don't know their Asia programs, but what they're offering in South America is a very inclusive package, with insurance, job placement assistance, language classes, housing assistance, and a full time local staffperson to call if you have problems.
Good stuff, but you do pay for it- So think beforehand. There's no point in choosing an expensive, inclusive program, then later complaining about how expensive it was.
I'd look at it closely, and think about yourself closely. If you really want or need all the services they offer, then it could be a really great program for you. (At least in Ecuador, I've seen their program to be really first class- good staff, good local providers, and terrific contacts with schools and in the community.) If you're just thinking of it as a TESOL course, though- think about what you're paying for.
Best,
Justin |

Totally depends on what you're looking for, and looking at. (Remember, I don't know much about LC Cambodia specifically.)
Here in Ecuador, they offer only the flagship program- which means that you get a package with all the aforementioned extras. Great if you want those extras- but if you're looking for "certification only," I don't know if LC does that in Cambodia. (and if all you really want is the cert, I'd look carefully at what else is included.) There are definitely other cert options that would be as good, but cost less. On the other hand, I know of no other program like the inclusive one that LC offers, if that's what you want.
(Take this with a grain of salt- I only know their Ecuador operation.)
Best,
Justin |
