I can't believe how much the exchange rates have all flipped over, between the CDN and US dollars, and the peso against both.

Today, a Canadian dollar is worth 1.05 US and 11.21 Mexican pesos. But, the US dollar to peso rates are pretty much unchanged. Crappy for me going home this Christmas with pesos...and it's not even worth bringing US dollars now.

Anyone got a Euro or two they can lend me?

I cannot find another country besides Mexico that remains so stable to the US$, except those artificially pegged directly to the US$. That's one reason I'm planning to move to Mexico. I'm looking at Yahoo financial charts of the last five years. The rate has remained in a band between 10.2 and 11.7, actually losing 5% against the US$. In contrast, the dollar has lost at least 23% against the baht. Time to move!

Unlike the Pound Sterling, which was around $13 M.N. when I arrived in 2001, rose to around $22, dropped to around $17 and now I believe it's about $22 again!

Has anyone visited xe.com today? The CAD$ is now at $.93 to the USD$. The funny thing about this is that xe.com has put a little note next to the CAD$ with a rate explanation stating, "This means that the CAD is worth more than the USD." Funny stuff that they felt they had to explain this- I've never seen this before and I have been using their site for years to check exchange rates. Laughing

I am a French-English-Spanish translator and Matesol working completely over the internet, paid in US dollars, living in Canada, paying US, Canadian and Quebec taxes as well! For my work, no one knows where I am located. Tell me, please, why haven't I moved to Mexico? I hate the cold and my little girl already puts chocolate and cinnamon on her food.
