Sorry if this has already been covered many times. I would like to take a CELTA or TEFL course in Turkey.
Would really just like to know what my options are such as duration, costs, starting dates, locations, etc
Would really like to opt for the most internationally recognised and good quality course if possible.
Any help would be appreciated. |

Pending further info on availability of courses in Izmir; I feel I should point out that the "CELTA" is internationally recognised, wherever it is conducted.
I don't know of any other international qualifications that can be obtained (at this level) in Turkey. It has previously been taught (with a high pass rate) in Izmir.
Following SD having been poached to Oxford, however, I don't know if the course is running again. Do others have further knowledge? |

I did my CTEFL at Vialingua İstanbul which is in Kadıky, Kent English. It was excellent - cost 1300 Euros if memory serves and was a 4 week course. I highly recommend it. |

MOD EDIT
Harry the hobbit has had to endure many teacher trainer hobbit's teacher development sessions and knows that a hard working hobbit should not pay 1300 hobbit currency units for an unrecognised "cert." Do the CELTA. |

Thanks to the hobbit's (and others') advice, I have just contacted British Side for info on their CELTA course.
Would anyone mind telling me if they would be having giant laughing fits at hearing of a 59yo, American male intent on leaving the Homeland (you just can't know how miserable I am to have to refer to my country in such fashion) and living, employed as an English teacher, on the shores of Lake Van?
Also: Harry, what is the name of 'that rather well-known university', and are you still talking about Izmir?
Thanks for your time. |
