Gedaye,
Could I ask a question about transiting to the UAE with ones belongings? Im gonna send 35 kg maybe more by sea freight. Itll cost 2,100 dirham.
Will it be over the top with the charges Ill have to pay at the port? Just personal effects.
Is it straightforward? A hassle? I remember Jakarta used to be a trial and youd pay a lot to this desk and that desk and this guy and that.
( Probably a very unfair comparison?)
Any impressions, experience much appreciated. |

In my experience, it's a straightforward transaction. Firstly, what are you paying for in the way of shipping? Most shipping companies specify what charges they cover and what you will be responsible for.
In my own case, I only had to pay some admin charges (less than 100 dirhams at the time a couple of years ago) - go to the warehouse with a customs inspector and he checked the boxes (but not minutely). Total time spent at the cargo village (my stuff came air freight) about 1 hour.
Check with your shipping company, they should be able to tell you what to expect if they're any good at this. |
