Not terrorist related apparently. Welding work was being done on a gas pipeline and in the resulting explosion 28 were killed.

It made the front page on the Arab News.

Bloody hell you must be as bored as I am Scot!

Conspiracy theories? Was it all just a Zionist plot or is old Dubia involved.

Perhaps a ex Govan shipyard welder had a wee bit too much sid the night before and let his hand slip.

This page has died of death recently, what happend to all the JIC purge talk?

Perhaps the key word here is apparently.

Then again, perhaps not.

Is there any point in speculating about anything?

Who knows what is really going on?

You, me and everyone we know will never know the true story about anything.

Just do your best, be nice to everyone and live and let live, what my granny said and what I try (without much success) to live by.

Life's too short, so make it wide.

Little coverage of the story though. Could that be because of the nationalities of those killed ?

The TEFLers who bitch about that hard life they have in Saudi should open their eyes a bit.

It's on US Today and the International Herald Tribune amongst other sources.

Deaths are now 40. And Arab Strap, it is a long time since any welders from Govan worked in Saudi. When I came here in 1970 there were a fair number of Scots and English tradesmen working here - brickies, electricians, plumbers. Not now. The Filipinos and Lascars have proved to be cheaper and easier to supervise. They don't answer back either.

Pure coincidence. It's possible they decided to pick them up before Hajj, or there may be other reasons for the timing.

We will never know ! And it is best not to be too curious about such matters.
