Hi,
Next year I will be embarking on this adventure. I know that I will not get rich, but who knows what the future may hold as well!
Anyway, I will initially spend 2 months at TPU in Tomsk to hopefully gather some language skills to survive. Then I will study the CELTA course at IH Kyiv.
I have arranged my flights (1 way ... as don't know how things will pan out) from Australia to Novosibirsk and then Novosibirsk to Kyiv.
After this, July onwards I would be looking for employment. Azerbaijan and Ukraine appear to be my prime targets at the moment.
Is anybody able to say when the majority of schools in these areas will do their hiring? Is July a good time to be looking> Should it be possible to arrange something before I complete the CELTA program? If I do not have anything pre-arranged, how long on average, would a new starter expect to be looking if they are already in the country? What sort of wage should I expect, in order to survive reasonably well?
Finally, I am trying to save in my current job, but I know that by the time I leave (after paying for these study courses) I will not have a lot to spare. Atleast in Tomsk and Kiev, so the first 3 months, my accommodation will be arranged by the University and School, so I know roughly how much I will need.
But to survive without any work in this part of the world, how much money would you suggest is required per month?
I know that I'm asking a lot of questions, but everything is approaching quickly, so I want to be as prepared as possible
Thanks |

Hi,
If anybody is able to post about their own experiences, that'd be very helpful.
Is it possible to just arrive in the country, and then find work? I'm someone who's always travelling on a shoestring budget, so any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks |
