anyone have any experience with them (chinaprogram.org)? positive? negative? im thinking of applying for a year or so. im currently a seasoned public school teacher from the states and have traveled to china several times over the last 4 years so i know what its like there but wonder if this is a reputable company and what some teacher experiences there have been like. im just thinking of taking a break from the us public school system for a year to do something a little more out of the ordinary.
thanks for any info!

For you the position is a joke. It sounds like a 10 month contract and you might have to share accommodation.
http://www.jobsabroad.com/listingsp3.cfm/listing/15874
Try here for example but also ten month only paid:
http://thechinaschool.org/school-downs/Foreign%20Teacher%20Introduction%20-%20China%20School.doc
An example of an International School:
http://www.hiway.co.uk/~ei/Internationalschools/china.html
For Expatriate Staff appointed from overseas
The remuneration package is as follows (based on this years levels):
An annual salary of RMB 323,250 p.a. gross paid subject to local taxes. Staff
make their own arrangements to transfer monies back to the UK, but our
office staff will provide assistance.
Accommodation will be provided and will be in an apartment. Utilities are to
be paid by staff members.
A relocation allowance is available of up to RMB 6,000, receipts will be
needed for any reimbursement. Additional costs covering visa, medical and
experts certificate, will be met by the school.
You will receive a free flight London -Shanghai - London at the best available
price to the school at the beginning and end of each satisfactorily completed
year (accompanying family flights are only included at the start/end of
contract). The School will decide each year the maximum cost of such flights
The medical cover provided is BUPA classic. The school will pay two thirds of
the cost of this and you will be required to pay one third (family members can
join the schools scheme, but at the teachers own full expense). School will
also reimburse teachers in full for medical expenses required in order to apply
for the appropriate work and residency permits.
100% remission of fees for school age children
The duration of the contract is two years and, subject to satisfactory
performance, is renewable by mutual agreement. Salaries are reviewed
annually. |

I think I know some of the people that organize that program. Even though I have like 4 years experience, they were still trying to sell me 5000 a month and shared accomodation when I was looking into options in SZ. I'm like....ok....I can speak Chinese and got a bunch of experience: Great, 5000 a month!
Other much better options in SZ. Most people I know are making at least 10K there. |
