| I will be arriving in Taipei on January 19th. I plan to go to Kaohsiung about 3 days after to begin the job search. Since there are a lot of travelers around that time, should I make seat reservations for the bullet train soon or will I be ok buying a ticket when I get to Taiwan? |

| Chinese New Year isn't until the 2nd week of February. You'll have no problem getting a ticket for the HSR once you're here. It costs about $1500 NT for a one way ticket from Taipei to Kaohsiung. You get your ticket at the HSR station. |

| Am I coming to Kaohsiung at an alright time to look for jobs? Do all schools close down for those two weeks? |

Again...for all intents CNY starts Feb. 3rd and ends Feb 13th. During that time you'd find it tough to find a school that is open. It is not a great time of year to be looking for work.
Typically the peak hiring times are Jan, May, or Aug. |
