Hi, all.

I just received a very good offer from the Roland International College in Malaysia. Thing is, the offer letter and contract weren't that detailed, and when I sent a list of questions (tax rate, how the apartment is furnished, what time of month salary is paid, etc.) I was given a curt, one-line email reading, "If you don't want to work here, it's okay."

I was of course rather taken aback and wonder if anyone else has any experience with this college. I'm also new to the international job hunt and wonder if there's some taboo against asking what to me are perfectly reasonable questions before moving to the other side of the world to take a job.

Thanks!

Given that kind of response, I would not accept working there. Sounds like they are not upfront about the position. Be careful!

I think, if you do a bit of googling, that this place doesn't even exist, and they seemed to asking for cash to help with visas.

I got the same offer and there seems to be a number of people who have - perhaps more than they could reasonably have positions to fill. Too bad, I was enthusiastic about Malaysia.

Thanks so much for all your responses. Bummer. I guess if it seems too good to be true . . . .

Actually, it wasn't too good to be true, just at the upper edge of what you might expect with good qualifications - which what lets them get away with it.

I have recieved an offer from them as well and I had questioned them and each other replies stressed on sending them $250 for processing the visa.
How is it that they can get away with this? I really want to complain to the Malaysian education board!

This should be stickied with the name of the so called university.

If you do as whois search on the domain, it turns up an address in Sierra Leone. That sure isn't Malaysia.

They're probably in Nigeria and want you to Western Union them the 250.
Scam, stay well clear.
