I want to live and work in Bangkok but will need to look for a job when I get there in January.
Though the time maybe postponed a month or 2...
Anyway, where is a good part of Bangkok to live for a week or so to find work near schools or a part you could reccommend.....
Thanks |

Private schools are hiring year-round... and there are plenty here in BKK. The public school year is about finished (mid February) so most elementary and secondary schools are probably not hiring right now. I would recommend staying anywhere near the BTS or MRT as most private schools are in the business districts (Silom, Siam, Sukumvit). When I first arrived in Bangkok I stayed near Victory Monument, close to Soi Rangnam. There are lots of cheap accomodations around this area. |

Thanks...what is BTS or MRT?
Also do you think Soi Rangnam is a good initial landing spot? How far is that from the airport.....? I will do a search about the area. |

Skytrain and Subway, the FAST way to get around BKK.

Sorry... BTS (Bangkok Mass Transit System) or Skytrain is an elevated metro system that runs through most of the major business centers. The MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) is a subway system. These are the most efficient and comfortable means of transportation here.
The new airport is actually a few miles outside of Bangkok, so there is no really convenient place to stay that is close. Soi Rangnam is probably not a good spot for your initial arrival. Once you are settled and have a job I would recommend this area as there are lots of reasonably priced apartments and restaurants here, although there are plenty of other places around BKK.
When you first arrive I would recommend taking a city bus from the airport to Banglampoo. Avoid the overpriced mini buses and taxis. There you'll find a street called Khoa San Road, which is the major backpacker hangout. There are tons of cheap guesthouses in this area. The only problem is that neither the BTS nor the MRT have connections to this part of the city. |
