Greetings to all,

I am new to this message board, but just heard about the NOVA situation while traveling in India. Sorry to all everyone who has lost there jobs. Additionally I am hoping to begin teaching English in Japan around March or April. Any predictions on what job market will be like then? I have found these forums to be a great resource, thanks to all those who have posted.

They are even better when you use the SEARCH function.

To answer the question I predict that the job market will be pretty competitive at that time as many of those Nova teachers that had the sense to find a job at the imminent demise of the company will be back in the market after dumping the holding pattern jobs they found. They will have the advantage of holding work visas, local experience and local contacts. Not that there won't be jobs just not so plentiful.

I predict the job market will be unpredictable. Please. If you must come, do your best to be prepared and get lots of rejections.

do you have experience teaching? if so, and even if you don't, please don't let anyone discourage you. it is expensive to get set up here.....especially in tokyo, but there are plenty of jobs and march/april is the best time to look.....again, i can only comment on what it's like here in tokyo.....there's always work! good luck!
