Hi All,
I'm a self employed English teacher working at a multinational engineering company in Rio.
It's almost impossible finding employment as an ESL teacher here unless you're willing to work illegally. Getting a work visa is difficult, beauracratic, and time consuming. Almost all native teachers here work illegally as there are a number of schools that employ native speakers without work permits.
The pay is about 25 to 30 Reals a class, and you will need a full diary to make ends meet. About 100 reals a day is enough to pay the bills, eat, sleep and enjoy the occasional treat. But, it's by no means enough to really let your hair down.
If you're intent on coming make sure you have some dough in the kitty.
Gotta go. |
