I am currently working in Korea, and I am curious about living and working in Southeast Asia. Can anyone briefly describe the processs for getting a work visa in Cambodia? What documents are required?

The visa process in Cambodia is simplicity itself. There are only 2 types available - tourist and business. In order to remain in the country for longer than 2 months and work, you will need the latter. The initial business visa is obtained on arrival at Phnom Penh airport at a cost of US $25 and is valid for one month. (I am not sure if they are also available at Siem Riem airport and the land border-crossing points). The only documentation needed is a passport-sized photograph and papers bearing the portraits of dead American Presidents!. No proof of intended or actual employment is required. The visa can then be extended in-country for periods of 3, 6 and 12 months. The 6 and 12 month options are multiple entry/exit. Although you can apply yourself at the immigration office near the airport, it is much less hassle to get an agent to do it for you. Many expats use Lucky Motorcycle Rentals (I kid you not!) on Monivong Boulevard, but virtually any Travel Agent in town should also be able to do it for you. The cost for the 12 month visa will be between $250 - $275, depending on which agent you use.

The visa is your own "property" and is not linked to any employer. Cambodia does not currently have a work permit system, though there are occasional mutterings that one may be introduced.

What if you want to stay longer after the 12 months are up?
