Well......
I think it has to do with the girls for most of the males thats for sure.
Life is ok over here if you are single and on a good salary.
On a minimal salary you still can enjoy life and that all depends on your spending habits.
Ah! Did i mention the girls?
Ok, lets read your real reasons??? |

A large number of newly qualified IH teachers (that's all I know about really, I'm afraid) ended up in Poland because, when they went for their interview in London, they found out there was no chance of getting a job in Spain and the interviewer cleverly sold Poland to them; that being where most of the vacancies are.
Some loved it, others couldn't wait to escape. Those that stayed were generally the ones who met a partner or the career types who knew they could hang around for two years, get the Delta and move up to ADoS/DoS. |

Hey Sarge,
Are you one those from London??
Spain has wonderful weather thats certain, that's a bonus:)
Poland has the most dedicated and driven students, more satisfaction for a teacher, now there's a bonus:)
CHEAPER:) Bloody bonus!
Really i love Polska and what it has to offer but not for the long term unless i win the duzy lotek:) |

my reasons:
-i was raised essentially by my polish grandmother. she was real old school, "off-the-boat" polka just before the war broke out, etc. She was very dear to me, and i always new i would one day go to poland.
-needed a change of pace. i'm from the tri-state area, and couldn't deal with the lifestyle anymore. had a "good" corporate job, had potential, but it just wasn't for me
-the people. love polish people. a relief from what i was used to.
-better lifestyle/finances. i quite simply make more money here relative to what my expenses are vs. what i earn. in the US, i made just enough to pay my bills. here, i save plenty of cash every month.
-i have family here. if i didn't come out here to live, i never would have met any of them.
-wanted to travel. traveling anywhere in the US is expensive.
-wanted to learn a second language, specifically polish.
-really enjoy teaching, and TESOL was a good fit.
-i grew up eating alot of polish food and always enjoyed it. now i get to eat the real thing! the food here is great. real fresh, no preservatives, and chicken actually tastes like something.
-i felt the need to gain international experience. all the money to be made isn't only in the US anymore.
i guess my list goes on and on, but there's a good start. my heart's in poland. |

"i'm from the tri-state area"
Where is that ? Those from outside the US will not be familiar with this designation. |

Teachers come to Poland for many reasons.
Teachers stay for the chicks and the beer. |

The beer?? Which country's horrible beer have you been drinking, afowles, that makes Polish beer seem great in comparison?
Polish beer is all lager and it tastes pretty much the same whether you buy Tyskie, Lech etc...
The beer is drinkable here, but at best I think its on the same level as big breweries in America like Budweiser and Coors. Polish beer cant compare with American microbrews, and the British people I've talked to here aren't too thrilled about it either. Ever hear of a brew called Fat Tire?
One more thing - the straws and shots of 'ginger juice' in beer have got to go. Polish girls are cute, but I'm not so into this baby-drinking-sweetened-beer-through-a-straw cute. Can someone tell me when this straw fad started? |

fascinating how quickly a teachers forum devolves into a hetero-boy's club. |

Poland was not a particulary 'fabulous' country the last time I checked. |

shake, i hear ya about the beer.....but......Budweiser? Coors? no way. i can't even stand half a can of that stuff. Zywiec, Lech....hell, even Tyskie is better than Bud or Coors. And man, Fat Tire. What an awesome beer. My first experience with Fat Tire was in Las Vegas. I can remember drinking that stuff into the wee hours on a number of occasions. The states has some fantastic microbrews, many of which most people do not know about. How's about Anchor Steam?
and yeah, the straw thing is tacky. but, who am i to judge. i like soda out of a straw. maybe that's weird in some other countries??? |

i would venture to say that it's quite the opposite.
I think most teachers come here for the beer and girls, but stay for many other reasons. |
