Anyone have any idea about when HK will get back to applicants for the 2008/2009 year? |

Not sure about PNET, but I applied to SNET and got an e-mail saying I'd hear by the end of February whether or not I'd be invited to interview. I know one other person on here who got the same e-mail I did. Is it safe to guess PNET and SNET are on the same timetable? |

My husband has submitted the application for SNET as well, but he got an email saying the date was by end of March.
I know that a guy from UK is going to have an interview for SNET in London. Hopefully we will get some news very soon.
Good luck to everyone!! |

I applied for PNET last November and a week or so later got a call saying that I would be interviewed late February/early March. Shouldn't be too long if that time frame is accurate. |

I also received an interview confirmation email a few days ago. It said that there would be a written test before or after the interview. Does anyone have any idea what the written test may be consist of? |

I received my email notice this morning. I am not sure if it is worth my time and money. My interview is in Vancouver, Canada and I live in California. The flight alone will be $400 RT, then I need a place to stay, find the hotel, hire taxi or rent a car. The interview is on a Wednesday! Why couldn't they make it on a Monday or Friday so that I wouldn't have to take an extra day off of work? I will have to take at least 2 days off from work which is not good since I am a teacher and we have parent/teacher conference on the exact day of the interview. There doesn't seem to be a way to change the time or date. In addition, it sounds like lots of people will be interviewing. My chances don't seem too good. Maybe it would be best to move to HongKong and try it that way.
Does one get blacklisted from an a job if they can't make the interview? Has anyone on this list actually gone on this interview? If so, what can one expect. They even mentioned I would have to take a 20 minute test. |

The fact that interviews are being held in Canada, not the USA, should tell you something. VTC also interviews in Canada and Australia, not the USA. If I lived in California, I wouldn't invest $400, not to mention the lost time and wages, in interviewing for a position for which I was not in the "preferred candidate" group. |

There are USAnians accepted into the NET scheme, and lots of USAnians working here in HK. The more the better as far as I'm concerned, (and as far as HK students are concerned), now that I've seen a bit of the Colonial detritus known as the HK exam-prep, err, I mean "education system."
Go for the interview if you can! Have a good attitude about the whole thing; there will be plenty of time for frustration later on.
My twenty-minute written portion was a short essay introducing myself to other teachers in HK...nothing to sweat about I can assure you. |
