Just wondering if anybody has feedback on the school, Global TESOL College. How are they regarded, are they worth the money, how they compare to CELTA, will it help in getting a job to have their course?
Thanks for any info. |

Actually, the op does mean Global TESOL College. They used to be called Global TESOL Training Institute, but they changed their name.
I got my certification a couple of years ago and I really enjoyed it. Although the CELTA may be better, I felt like the course was worth my money. It was interesting, fun and informative.
As for getting jobs, I think that any sort of TEFL/TESOL/TESL certification will help you. Although I am back home and not teaching right now, I had no problems getting job offers from Indonesia, Mexico, China and at the time I didn't even have a degree. I even got a couple of job offers in Hong Kong. Unfortunately, I had to come back home before I even got to start the job I accepted in HK
But overall, Global TESOL is good. I suggest doing the in-class course for your foundation course. I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much if I did it by correspondence. Another good thing about Global is that they now have a Teaching Practicum as one of the specializations that they offer.
Sorry for kind of rambling on. If you want any more info, let me know |

I totally agree, Global Tesol was great! I am degreeless ( but with a lot of work relevant work experience) but still was in HIGH demand for jobs in China, Thailand and Mexico.....
Plus, the school paid my airfare over which just about covered the cost of the course. I too wouldn't want anyone to choose the online course over inclass....it was just so much fun!
I am back home now and that year away was just about the best thing I ever did. I have never been so grateful for what we have here in North America and I am inspired now to take full advantage of all options open to me.
Good Luck.... |

Hey there. I also got a TESOL certificate from Global TESOL College. It's a great company to go through, however I'd also recommend checking out the Canadian Institute of English. www.cie.ca. If you live in the Toronto area, or Vancouver, I'd highly recommend that you consider taking a course through this. The reason why is because CIE has connections with a university program and on their website, just click on "University Degree offered". Also, there are some cities outside of Canada where CIE holds classes as well. But check it out.
Jared
p.s. The reason why I didn't go through CIE is because I live in Southern Alberta, and Global TESOL College was closer. |

I paid the 1000$ CDN for it. It was nothing special, I didn't learn anything at all. I met some cool people that I talk to now. But it is a valuable piece of paper that will get you in the door.
I would say it is worth it....but the course I took was a joke.
Peace |

Global TESOL college is GARB. It's a waste of money do not take this corse. Places like global TESOL and Teach and Travel TESOl is what is ruining honest organizations. Many countries through-out the world won't even accept anything but CELTA or TRINITY now. I took the Global TESOL course a couple years ago and have since had to recertify with my CELTA. Any course that is 5 days long and claims to be equivalent to CELTA and others month long intensive courses that you can actually fail if you don't do the work are jokers. Spend the extra 4 hun Canadian and get something worth wild. Wel... that being said only if you want to teach for a while and this isn't just a way for you to travel around the world and get some work.
cheers |
