Advice, please!
I am currently on a leave of absence from teaching middle school (Health) here in the US. I have until July 2008. I'd love to use the time to travel/ teach.
I have a MEd., am licensed/certificated in Health and have 12+ years of teaching experience. I have taught ESL in Costa Rica (without a TEFL or CELTA) ok, many moons ago, and have a fair amount of international work experience (i.e. Japan, Bahrain, Caribbean, Ireland) with students.

Any ideas as to how I could do this? I don't need to be paid much, but I can't afford to volunteer. Could I tutor and how would I get jobs?

Ideally, I would like to spend about a month-ish in Vietnam, Thailand, France, Italy, Spain, India, Peru, Mexico, and/or Brazil.

Any ideas or thoughts would be welcomed!
Aloha

As for teaching Health, you'd probably have to get a job at an international school, but be expected to sign a two year contract.

If you want to teach English, then you could do that. I've seen short-term positions for VN, Thailand, Peru, Mexico and Brasil. Though for the Latin American countries, don't expect to get rich. Maybe 500 to 1000 USD a month, and you might be working illegally.

As far as Peru's concerned, you could easily get a job, make 5 and hour, but not a work visa.

Also try teachabroad.com or volunteerabroad.com

You said that you worked in Japan, Bahrain, the Carribean, and Ireland, try contacting some of the people who you worked with, they might have some connectinons.

Also, you could just take the leap, pick a country and look for a job once you get there.
