Shouldn't this one be on the 'Job related' board? Only the initiated can see it here.

God, other than Taishan that city is lame. Qufu an hour bus ride away is pretty cool though. When i visited there it seemed like rent seemed and food was dirt cheap, eventhough the resturaunts were not very good. clothes were about the same as qingdao for the same brands, and electronics and other specialty stuff was crazy expensive. dvds didn't seem to exist even in the video shops. i was only there for about 4 days (including the day i spent in qufu) so maybe i was looking in the wrong spots but except climbing the mountian there was nothing to do.

In general the city is just fine. It depends on who you are and what you want to do with your life. Those average folks that want to live it up and drink and party 24/7 - well move along. Those that want to have a peaceful life, living in a truly Chinese environment, doing their job, and the like - then it's fine for you.
