I'm living in a Leopalace now, and so far the internet has been really fast. However, I can't download anything (tv shows and etc) and youtube videos take forever to load. I'm so behind on Heroes that I could cry!

I'm completely computer illiterate, so I'm not sure how to fix this problem. Plus I'm working with crappy Vista! I'm thinking of signing up for pay service through Jcom...unless anyone has any ideas that can help me!
Thanks! Smile

Sorry - you can't download anything with a Leopalace internet connection. Somewhere in the paperwork (possibly written only in Japanese) it mentions that. They have pretty serious firewalls. Crying or Very sad

I had the same problem with Leopalace when I moved in. At first using Bittorrent wasn't a problem but after about a month they clamped down on my connection. Apparently each building is allotted a set amount of bandwidth that they are strict on enforcing - I think it's because everything comes down through the connection (net, cable TV, VOD etc.) In the end I got my own ADSL connection - no regrets whatsoever. It ended up costing me an extra 5000yen a month but my downloads were unlimited and my highest download speeds were approaching 1mbps. Also my Leopalace connection used to timeout after only 20 minutes which was really annoying at times.

I had the same problem as everybody else.
I found though that it was especially slow during the hours that many people wpould be at home and online. anywhere from 7:30 pm onwards through 1:00 am would be really slow.
Afternoon weekdays and evenings would be faster but as soon as 8:00 pm came round again ...

In the end I thought the service was a rip-off. They promise in the ads broadband speeds but they are anything but (comparable to ISDN I would say). I became annoyed with them when I wanted to disconnect my Leopalace account because I never used it once I got my new connection but they said it was compulsory. A waste of 3000yen.
