hi i got a contract with geos for children starting in mid jan and
was wondering if its nessecary to wear a suit to work or if you can get away with just a shirt and tie with black trousers?

Probably depends on the manager, but I got away with a shirt and tie day to day. You'll need a suit though because they'll expect you to wear one to company meetings.

I had an acquaitance who worked for GEOS in Hokkaido, and he wore a suit to work every day.
Even if you aren't required to do so, it might be a good idea to come prepared to dress formally, especially if your size prohibits you from easily finding the required clothing in Japan.
If it turns out that you aren't required to wear a suit (I never had to wear one in the three schools where I worked), you can always leave the jacket in the closet!
