Hi everyone. I've seen a lot of posts about language schools, universities, and the occasional private bilingual school. What I'm wondering about is the Prepa level.
I have my BS in Physics and would like to teach that and possibly math as well. I know that some private schools hire people like me to teach in secundaria, but I haven't heard of anything like that for prepa. Do they have math and science classes in English in any prepas you know of? If so, what are the schools like?
Thanks in advance!

A lot of the private bilingual schools you've seen mentioned are K-12 schools. So they include prepa level. I've seen some jobs (I think there's one now on the Mexico City craig's list) but I don't know about any of the schools as they are not in my region of Mexico.

Teaching non-English subjects, in English, is usually not too difficult in most prepas. A lot of them provide their older students with classes in English on a variety of subjects.

You should be able to find a job no problem (depending on when you come down of course!). Also, the reality is that schools are usually desperate for native English teachers who have your qualifications. Its one thing to "pull off" teaching English with no experience other than you speak the language, but quite different to do it when the subject is math or physcis! And if you are a qualified teacher on top of that....look out! Getting a job shouldnt be too hard....finding a school you like is always a different story though! Wink

Ok, thanks for the info. I hadn't even thought of using craigslist for Mexico, but I think I found the post you were talking about, MELEE. I'll have to keep watching that. I'm back in school right now getting my teaching certification, but It seems like I'll definitely be able to find something there once I finish.

I actually spent a some time teaching English in SLP and it seemed like almost all of the colegios were K-9. The only one I knew of that offered prepa was the spoiled rich kid school. People told me bad stories about that place. I didn't want to be within a kilometer of it.

Thanks again, and wow. You guys are a lot nicer than the people on the Asian forums....
