Hi...Im leaving Nova soon and I have a question regarding release documents.....what do I need to get from them? I believe a `letter of release` is needed as I intend to stay in Japan longer and work with another employer.

Cheers

That's all you need. It's required by law.

Given that it's NOVA more info might be necessary.

You do not *need* a letter of release. You *might* need a record of employment. The two things are not the same. A letter of release is merely polite and customary - they make for a clearer and easier paper & tax trail for the next employer.

The record of emplyment needs to state your start and finish dates, your job title and the employer. Nothing else need appear on it and you can demand they delete anything and everything except the bits above. The employer signs it. You do *not* sign it. The employer must also give you a final tax certificate within 24 hours of finishing your job.

If Nova offer you *anything* to sign/hanko, refuse.
